PRESS RELEASE FOR ART EXHIBITION VOLUSIA; WRAPPED IN FIBER
By Pamela Allen, Kingston Ontario, Canada
January 29, 2011
Florida and in particular, Volusia County is becoming a textile art Mecca thanks to the efforts of Mary McBride a resident of Deland. Mary is a mixed media artist and curator whose interest in fabric related art has developed into a passion in the last decade. She has curated important yearly international fiber exhibitions, both through the Atlantic Center for the Arts, and independently at many galleries and museums in the area. You could say she has put Florida on the map in the newly emerging genre of textile art. Her exhibitions have attracted National and International art stars affording the opportunity to see the crème de la crème of textile artists at her shows. VOLUSIA; WRAPPED IN FIBER may be the best yet. Six venues will be serving up a diverse menu; large installation pieces, three-dimensional work and yes art quilts will be exhibited in 6 different venues beginning January 30th and running until April 27th. Expect the unexpected!

Lots of laughter and friendship.
We are in the process of finding a new meeting place. Please contact us for more information.
